Job Description

The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has opened a gateway for technical enthusiasts to join the esteemed Bihar Police Radio (Wireless) department. This recruitment drive, under Advertisement No. 07/2026, seeks to fill the position of Assistant Sub-Inspector (Technical), offering a rare blend of law enforcement prestige and technical specialization. For those residing in tier-2 and tier-3 cities who have pursued technical diplomas, this is a golden chance to secure a life-long career characterized by stability, respect, and the opportunity to serve the state of Bihar through the backbone of police communication.

Joining the Bihar Police Radio wing isn't just about getting a government job; it’s about becoming the "ears and voice" of the force. In a world where rapid communication can save lives, your role as a technical expert ensures that the police network remains seamless and secure. This career path offers the dual benefit of a structured government lifestyle and a dynamic technical environment where your specialized skills are valued every single day.

🎓

Qualification

Candidates must have completed a 3-year Diploma Course (by 01.08.2025) in one of the following streams from a recognized Polytechnic institute:

  • Electronics & Communication

  • Electronics & Tele Communication

  • Information Technology

  • Electrical & Electronics

💸

Fees

  • Application Fee (All Categories): 100/- (One Hundred Rupees).

  • Note: This fee applies to all Male, Female, and Third Gender candidates across all categories. Please be aware that while the application fee is uniform, any additional bank transaction charges (Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, or UPI) must be covered by the applicant.

🧭

Job Profile & Impact

As an Assistant Sub-Inspector (Technical) in the Bihar Police Radio department, you are the custodian of the state's police communication infrastructure. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve the meticulous maintenance and operation of wireless sets, digital communication systems, and technical signaling equipment used by various police units. You won't just be sitting at a desk; you will be ensuring that the technical backbone of the Bihar Police remains functional 24/7. Whether it is troubleshooting communication towers or managing data transmission protocols, your impact is felt during every emergency call and every high-stakes police operation. You are essentially the technical shield that allows the field officers to coordinate and execute their duties effectively.

🎯

Who Should Apply

Choosing a career is a significant life decision. Here is how you can determine if this technical role aligns with your aspirations:

  • Best For: Individuals who possess a strong technical aptitude and enjoy working with electronics and communication systems. If you have a disciplined mindset, value government job security, and prefer a role that combines technical skill with a touch of uniformed service, this is ideal for you. It is perfect for those who want to stay rooted in Bihar while working in a specialized technical wing.

  • Not Ideal For: Students seeking a purely administrative or "general" police role (like a traditional Sub-Inspector in a police station). If you have no interest in engineering subjects like Electronics, Telecommunication, or Information Technology, you may find the grueling technical selection process and the job itself quite challenging.

🎯

Selection Process

The selection journey is divided into three distinct phases designed to test your mental and physical fitness:

  1. Phase 1: Preliminary Exam (100 Marks): 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) to be solved in 2 hours. 40 questions cover General Knowledge and Current Affairs, while 60 questions focus on your Technical Diploma subjects. You must score at least 30% to qualify.

  2. Phase 2: Main Exam: Consists of two papers.

    • Paper 1: Language test (50 marks Hindi, 50 marks English). Qualifying only (30% required).

    • Paper 2: 100 questions (100 marks) purely on your Technical Subject. This marks the basis for your final merit.

  3. Phase 3: Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Qualifying in nature. Includes a 1.6 KM run for men (7 mins) and 1 KM for women (7 mins), plus High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put.

Expert Strategy: Start by mastering your core Diploma subjects, as they carry the most weight in both Prelims and Mains. Since there is a negative marking of 0.2 marks per wrong answer, focus on accuracy over speed. For the physical round, don't wait for the written results—start a light running routine immediately to build stamina.
