The Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC) has significantly expanded its 2026 recruitment drive. In addition to the engineering and science streams, new notifications (Advt No. 02/2026 and 03/2026) have been added for Workshop Instructors and Laboratory Assistants in specialized technical fields. This presents a massive opportunity for Diploma and Degree holders to secure a regular government job within the Bihar Department of Science, Technology, and Technical Education.
3-year Diploma in Engineering (various branches), B.Sc (Physics/Chemistry/Maths), or relevant Bachelorās Degree for specific technical posts.

Upload clear, scanned documents; blurry or unreadable uploads will lead to rejection.
Pay the fee online and save the payment receipt and application hard copy.
Merit is calculated out of 100 Marks:
CBT Written Exam (75 Marks): Your percentage score in the 100-question objective exam is multiplied by 0.75.
Work Experience (25 Marks): Contractual workers in relevant Bihar Govt departments receive 5 marks per year of service.
Negative Marking: 0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer.
What is the starting salary?
Ans: The entry-level basic pay is ā¹35,400 (Level-6) plus Bihar govt allowances.
Can I apply if I have a distance-mode diploma?
Ans: No. Only regular course (non-distance mode) diplomas are valid.
Are women from outside Bihar eligible for the 35% reservation?
Ans: No. Horizontal reservation for women is only for permanent residents of Bihar.
Is there an interview?
Ans: No. Selection is based purely on the Written Exam (CBT) and experience weightage.
What is the exam duration?
Ans: The Computer Based Test lasts for 2 hours.
Can I correct my category after registration?
Ans: No. Category and reservation claims cannot be changed once the application is submitted.
Is normalization used?
Ans: Yes. Normalization will be applied if the exam is held in multiple shifts.
What is the minimum passing score?
Ans: General category candidates need at least 40% in the written exam to qualify.
Should I send a physical copy to BTSC?
Ans: No. Do not send physical documents unless specifically asked during Document Verification.
Is a Scribe facility available?
Ans: Yes, for PWD candidates with 40% or more disability, provided they select "Yes" in the online form.
