The Department of Personnel has officially opened doors for young aspirants to join as Clerks and Steno-Typists under the 2026 Recruitment Rules. These positions offer immense long-term career stability, a professional work environment, and the prestige of serving in the "City Beautiful."
For a student from a tier-2 or tier-3 city, this recruitment represents a lucrative gateway into a regular government service career. Unlike temporary or contractual roles, these are regular basis appointments, meaning you enjoy the full spectrum of benefits, security, and growth trajectories associated with a permanent government position. Working within the Common Cadre also means you have the unique opportunity to serve across various vital departments of the Chandigarh Administration.

Paper 1 (Morning): English (40), GK (40), Computer Proficiency (20).
Paper 2 (Evening): Math (40), Statistics (30), Aptitude/Reasoning (30).
No Negative Marking: Every question carries 1 mark with no penalty for wrong answers.
Qualifying Mark: You must score at least 40% in each paper separately to pass.
Expert Strategy: Focus heavily on English and Mathematics, as they carry the bulk of the marks (80 combined). Since there is no negative marking, accuracy is your best friend, but don't leave any questions unattempted. Practice typing daily; 35 w.p.m. might sound easy, but doing it under exam pressure requires muscle memory.
