Your real-world impact is measured by the increased crop yields of local farmers and the successful adoption of climate-resilient agricultural practices across your jurisdiction.

Academic High-Achievers: If you have spent years researching soil health or crop genetics and now want to see that knowledge applied on a grand scale.
Natural Leaders: Professionals with at least 3 to 5 years of administrative or research experience who enjoy managing teams and complex projects.
System Thinkers: Those who can navigate government protocols while keeping the welfare of the farmer as their primary goal.
Not Ideal For:
Recent Graduates: This is a senior-level Class-I post; it requires a deep well of prior experience and advanced degrees.
Remote Work Seekers: This role demands a physical presence, regular site visits, and active engagement with various stakeholders in the agriculture sector.

Interview (100 Marks): Candidates are called in a ratio based on the vacancy (10 candidates for this single post).
Final Merit: Calculated by giving 50% weightage to the Prelims score and 50% weightage to the Interview.
Expert Strategy: Focus 70% of your energy on the respective horticulture subjects, as they carry double the weight. For General Studies, stay updated with Gujarat-specific current affairs and agricultural policies. Since you need a minimum of 15% marks in the prelims to even be considered for an interview, do not ignore the basic qualifying standards.
Q1: Can final-year Ph.D. students apply?
Ans: No. You must possess the degree and the required years of experience as of the last date of application (May 19, 2026).
Q2: Is the experience gained during a Ph.D. (like JRF/SRF) counted?
Ans: No. Experience gained during the study period (Research Fellowships) is not considered valid for this recruitment.
Q3: What happens if I upload a blurry photo?
Ans: Your application is liable to be rejected. GPSC strictly requires high-quality, recognizable photos with a white background.
Q4: Is there negative marking in the Preliminary Test?
Ans: While the specific penalty isn't in the summary, GPSC typically follows a negative marking system. Refer to the detailed syllabus on the website for the exact pattern.
Q5: I am a government employee. Do I need a No Objection Certificate (NOC)?
Ans: Yes. You must inform your department within 7 days of applying and produce the original NOC during the interview.
Q6: What is the minimum qualifying mark for the Preliminary exam?
Ans: You must score at least 15% marks in the Preliminary test to be eligible for the interview shortlist.
Q7: Can I apply if I am from outside Gujarat?
Ans: Yes, but you will be treated as a General category candidate and must pay the full application fee, regardless of your category in your home state.
Q8: How will the final merit list be prepared?
Ans: It is a 50:50 split. 50% weightage is given to your Prelims score (out of 300) and 50% to your Interview score (out of 100).
Q9: Do I need to send a physical copy of my application to GPSC?
Ans: No. Do not send physical copies. You only need to upload documents online if you qualify for the scrutiny stage.
Q10: What if I make a mistake in my confirmed application?
Ans: You cannot "correct" a confirmed application, but you can apply again before the deadline. The commission will consider only the last confirmed application as valid.
