Important Questions

  1. Can candidates from states other than Himachal Pradesh apply? 

Ans: Yes, but they will be treated as General category candidates and will not receive any fee or age concessions.

  1. Is there negative marking in the exam?

Ans:  Yes, Paper-I has a penalty of 0.25 (one-fourth) marks for every wrong answer or blank response.

  1. What is the passing mark for the descriptive test (SAT)?

Ans:  General category candidates need 45%, while reserved categories need 40% to qualify.

  1. I am currently in government service; do I need an NOC? 

Ans: Yes, regular government employees must produce a No Objection Certificate from their employer during the selection process.

  1. What happens if I leave a question blank in Paper-I?

Ans:  Unlike many exams, leaving a question blank (not choosing any option, including 'E') will result in negative marking.

  1. What is option 'E' in the objective test?

Ans:  If you do not want to answer a question, you must mark option 'E' to avoid the negative marking penalty.

  1. Where will the examination be held? 

Ans: The primary examination station is Shimla, though the Commission may change or add centers at its discretion.

  1. How is the final merit list prepared?

Ans:  Final selection is based on the combined marks of Paper-II (120 marks) and the Personality Test (30 marks).

  1. What is the duration of the exams? 

Ans: Paper-I is 1 hour, and Paper-II (Descriptive) is 3 hours.

  1. Is the salary permanent from day one?

Ans:  The post is for a "Job Trainee" with fixed monthly emoluments of ₹28,000.
