The Indian Air Force (IAF) is offering a prestigious opportunity for the youth of the nation to serve the country while pursuing their passion for sports. Under the Agnipath Scheme, the IAF has released the notification for the Agniveervayu (Sports) Intake 02/2026, specifically targeting unmarried Indian male candidates who have excelled in various sporting disciplines.

Candidates must meet the criteria for either Science or Non-Science streams:
Passed 10+2/Intermediate with Mathematics, Physics, and English with at least 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
OR 3-year Diploma in Engineering (specified branches) with 50% aggregate and 50% in English.
OR 2-year Vocational course with Physics and Mathematics with 50% aggregate and 50% in English.
Passed 10+2/Intermediate in any stream with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
OR 2-year Vocational course with 50% aggregate and 50% in English.
Note: 49.99% will be treated as 49% (No rounding off).
Registration Fee: ā¹100/- (plus applicable taxes) for all categories.

The recruitment covers a wide range of sporting disciplines. Candidates must have represented the country/state at International, National, or Inter-University levels.

Cricket: Must have played Inter-University or BCCI Trophies (U-19, U-23, Ranji, etc.).
Chess: Minimum FIDE rating of 2150.
Shooting: International participation or National Ranking (NSCC) up to 50th rank.
10 Copies of recent passport-size color photos (taken with a black slate showing Name and Date of Photo).
Original & 4 Self-Attested copies of Matriculation Passing Certificate and Marksheet.
Original & 4 Self-Attested copies of Intermediate/10+2/Diploma/Vocational course certificates.
Original & 4 Photocopies of Highest Sports Achievement Certificates.
Character Certificate in original.
Aadhaar Card as identity proof.
Body Tattoo Certificate and Consent Form (signed by parents if under 18).

Pay the ā¹100 registration fee online and submit the form.
The selection is a multi-stage process conducted at New Delhi (or other designated venues):
Document Verification: Initial scrutiny of original certificates.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT):
1.6 Km Run in 07 Minutes.
10 Push-ups (1 min), 10 Sit-ups (1 min), and 20 Squats (1 min).
Sports Skill Trials: Only for those who pass the PFT.
Medical Examination: Comprehensive check-up by the IAF Medical Board.
Can married men apply?
Ans: No, only unmarried Indian male candidates are eligible.
What is the duration of service?
Ans: The engagement period is for 4 years.
Is there a permanent job opportunity?
Ans: Yes, up to 25% of each batch may be enrolled in the regular cadre based on performance.
What is the salary?
Ans: You get a package of ā¹30,000/- per month in the 1st year, increasing to ā¹40,000/- by the 4th year.
What is the "Seva Nidhi" package?
Ans: After 4 years, you receive approximately ā¹10.04 Lakhs (plus interest) as a terminal benefit.
Are there medical standards for height?
Ans: Yes, the minimum height required is 152 cm.
Can I have a tattoo?
Ans: Only on the inner face of forearms or back of the hand; tribal tattoos may be considered based on customs.
What happens if I fail the medical?
Ans: You can appeal via the Appeal Medical Board (AMB) by paying a fee of ā¹40/-.
Are women eligible for this intake?
Ans: No, this specific intake is for male candidates only.
Do I get Ex-Servicemen (ESM) status?
Ans: No, Agniveervayu are not entitled to ESM status after their 4-year tenure.
