Job Description

For millions of young graduates residing in the tier-2 and tier-3 towns of Madhya Pradesh, securing a government job is not merely about a monthly paycheck; it is a life-altering milestone that brings immense social prestige and long-term career stability. The Madhya Pradesh Employee Selection Board (MP ESB), Bhopal, has unveiled a highly lucrative opportunity by announcing the Group-2 Sub-Group-1 Agriculture Extension Officer Recruitment Exam 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill executive positions that act as a crucial bridge between advanced agricultural science and the hardworking farmers of the state. If you have been searching for a path that offers both a secure lifestyle and a chance to make a profound grassroots impact, this notification signals the beginning of your dream career.

Stepping into the role of an Agriculture Extension Officer means joining a structured system that guarantees professional growth, safe working conditions, and an authoritative presence in rural governance. The department ensures a meticulous career progression ladder, enabling dedicated individuals to rise through the ranks over the years. In a time when private-sector employment remains volatile and unpredictable, this state government position stands out as a beacon of permanence, offering comprehensive social security benefits and an environment where your academic knowledge directly transforms rural economies.

🎓

Qualification

  1. Academic Degree: You must hold a completed B.Sc. Agriculture or B.Sc. Horticulture degree from a government-recognized university. Your final marksheet must be issued on or before the date you submit your online application form.

  2. Employment Exchange: It is strictly mandatory for all applicants to possess an active, valid live registration (जीवित पंजीयन) in the Employment Marketplace Office (रोजगार कार्यालय) of the State of Madhya Pradesh.

💸

Fees

  • Unreserved (UR) : 500/-

  • Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) : 250/-

🧭

Job Profile & Impact

The position of an Agriculture Extension Officer (कृषि विस्तार अधिकारी) is a highly dynamic, executive-level role that balances essential administrative responsibilities with extensive field-based interventions. On a day-to-day basis, you will serve as the primary face of the Directorate of Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development, Government of MP. Your primary responsibility involves translating complex laboratory-tested agricultural techniques into simple, actionable practices for local farmers. You will regularly conduct village-level workshops, demonstrate modern irrigation methods, analyze soil health reports, and supervise the distribution of subsidized seeds and fertilizers. This desk-and-field hybrid setup keeps you deeply connected to the rural community while offering you a professional office space at the block or district headquarters.

The real-world impact of an Agriculture Extension Officer is profound. When a crop disease hits a specific region, it is your meticulous assessment and prompt technical guidance that saves hundreds of rural families from devastating financial losses. Furthermore, you will be the key officer responsible for executing prestigious central and state welfare initiatives, ensuring that financial aid and technological resources reach the most marginalized farmers. By improving crop yields and promoting sustainable farming methodologies, your administrative actions directly contribute to regional food security and elevate the economic status of the farming community.

🎯

Who Should Apply

Best For:

  • Individuals possessing an academic background in agricultural sciences or horticulture who genuinely love staying connected with nature and the rural ecosystem.

  • Aspirants who have excellent communication skills in regional dialects and possess the empathy needed to patiently solve the problems of small-scale farmers.

  • Candidates who prefer a balanced lifestyle where they can stay close to their roots in tier-2/tier-3 cities rather than migrating to congested corporate hubs.

Not Ideal For:

  • People who seek a pure, air-conditioned corporate desk environment with fixed 9-to-5 routines, as this position demands periodic outdoor inspections under varying weather conditions.

  • Individuals looking for rapid corporate promotions or instant corporate validation, as government careers thrive on steady, structured, seniority-based progressions.

  • Candidates who are uncomfortable traveling to interior villages or interacting frequently with large public gatherings and local administrative bodies.

🪪

Age Limit & Relaxations

While the general baseline age window is 18 to 40 years, the state provides a liberal relaxation upper limit of 45 years for women candidates (both reserved and unreserved), SC, ST, OBC, corporate/board employees, and Homeguards. The baseline date for tracking age metrics is fixed as January 1, 2026. Special categories, such as contractual workers with over 5 years of continuous service and specific priority personnel, enjoy an absolute upper age ceiling extended up to 55 years.

💼

Salary & Perks

Securing this executive title places you within the prestigious Pay Scale of Rs. 25,300 – 80,500/-. As per the current structural mandates of the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services rules, newly appointed executives undergo a mandatory probation period during which a stipend system is implemented based on the minimum of the pay scale.

  • First Year of Service: You will receive 70% of the basic minimum pay.

  • Second Year of Service: The amount increases to 80% of the basic minimum pay.

  • Third Year of Service: You receive 90% of the basic minimum pay.

Once you successfully clear your structured probationary evaluation, you are instated into the full scale. Your monthly remuneration will be boosted by the addition of the running Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) matching your city tier categorization, and specific travel allowances meant for field operations. Alongside the attractive take-home pay, you gain access to institutional perks including comprehensive medical coverage for your immediate family, the standard institutional backing of the National Pension System (NPS), and eligibility for official government residential quarters at your place of posting.

❓

FAQ's

Q: Can final year students apply for this recruitment drive?

Ans: No. The recruitment guidelines state that you must have fully completed your B.Sc. Agriculture or Horticulture degree and possess your final passing certificate/marksheet on or before the date you submit your online application form.

Q: Is there a negative marking system in the online computer-based exam?

Ans: Yes. The evaluation matrix features a negative marking system where every correct objective response awards you 1 mark, while an incorrect response results in a deduction of 0.25 marks from your total score.

Q: What should I do if my Aadhaar biometric authentication fails while filling out the application form?

Ans: If your digital biometric authentication fails, ensure that your biometric lock feature is disabled on the official UIDAI citizen portal. If validation problems persist, you can opt for the alternative OTP-based e-KYC route using the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card.

Q: Can a candidate from a state other than Madhya Pradesh apply for these posts?

Ans: Yes, citizens from all Indian states are welcome to apply. However, candidates who are not permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh will be considered strictly under the Unreserved (UR/Open) category and cannot claim any reservation benefits or age relaxations.

Q: What happens if the photo I upload does not have my name and the date printed on it?

Ans: The notification states that photos failing to comply with the standard specifications (such as a white background, the candidate's name, and the date the photo was taken printed at the bottom) will result in the application form being rejected.

Q: Is it mandatory to have an active registration with the MP Employment Office?

Ans: Yes, it is absolutely mandatory for all applicants to possess an active and valid live registration certificate (जीवित रोजगार पंजीयन) issued by the Madhya Pradesh State Employment Exchange at the time of form submission.

Q: Are primitive tribal groups like Baiga, Sahariya, and Bharia exempted from taking the exam?

Ans: No. Because these specific positions are classified as Executive (कार्यपालिक) roles, candidates belonging to special primitive tribes such as Baiga, Sahariya, and Bharia do not receive direct appointment exemptions. They must apply online as regular Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates and clear the competitive computer-based examination.

Q: Can I modify my registered mobile number or email ID after the application form is submitted?

Ans: No. The correction guidelines state that core system identifiers, including your official transaction ID, application number, registered mobile number, and email address, cannot be altered or modified at any point after submission.

Q: What is the duration of the probation period, and how is the salary paid during this phase?

Ans: The selected candidates undergo a structured three-year probation period. Your stipend will be calculated based on the minimum scale pay: you will receive 70% in the first year, 80% in the second year, and 90% in the third year. You will transition into the full pay scale once you successfully complete your probation period.

Q: What items are strictly prohibited inside the MP ESB examination center premises?

Ans: Candidates are strictly forbidden from bringing any electronic devices, including smartphones, calculators, digital watches, bluetooth earpieces, log tables, sunglasses, or white correction fluid, into the examination room. You are only allowed to bring a printed copy of your official admit card, a valid original photo ID proof, and a basic black ballpoint pen.
