The Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) has just released a prestigious opportunity. Applications are invited for the post of Chief Fire Officer (Group 'B') within the Uttarakhand Fire and Emergency Services Department. To be eligible for the Chief Fire Officer post, candidates must possess one of the following:
A Three-year Degree in Fire Engineering from the National Fire Service College (NFSC), Nagpur.
OR an equivalent degree from a recognized institution.
OR have completed the Divisional Officers Course from NFSC, Nagpur.
Preferential Qualifications (Adhimani Arhta):
Knowledge of Automobile repair.
Practical experience in firefighting and handling major fire incidents.
Service in the Territorial Army (min 2 years) or holding an NCC 'B' Certificate.
Fees must be paid online via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI.
Uttarakhand Scheduled Caste (SC): ₹76.36 (includes ₹60 application fee + ₹16.36 processing fee).

Ans: The post is reserved for the Scheduled Caste category of Uttarakhand. Candidates from other states will not get reservation benefits.
Is there any interview for this post?
Ans: Yes, the final selection is based on a 100-mark interview.
Will marks from the Screening Test be added to the final merit?
Ans: No, Screening Test marks are only for shortlisting and will not be added to the final merit.
What is the minimum qualifying mark?
Ans: For SC candidates, the minimum qualifying mark is 25% in the Screening test and 35% in the Interview.
What if I make a mistake in the application?
Ans: A correction window will open from April 15 to April 24, 2026. You can also cancel and re-apply before the deadline, but the fee won't be refunded.
Is a Fire Engineering degree mandatory?
Ans: Yes, it is a mandatory educational requirement for this post.
What is the age relaxation for Ex-Servicemen?
Ans: Ex-servicemen can get a relaxation of up to 5 years depending on their length of service.
Where will the exam be held?
Ans: If conducted, the screening exam will take place in Haridwar.
Do I need to send documents by post?
Ans: Yes, a hard copy of the application and all supporting documents must reach the UKPSC Secretary's office by May 11, 2026.
Are there any physical requirements for female candidates?
Ans: Yes, female candidates must be at least 152 cm tall (147 cm for hilly areas) and weigh at least 45 kg.
