Job Description

The Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) is looking for skilled professionals to join the Directorate of Geology and Mining. These Group 'B' roles—Assistant Geologist, Mining Officer, and Assistant Chemist—are essential for managing the state's mineral resources and ensuring scientific exploration and regulation.

These positions offer a high-level entry into the state's civil services, featuring a competitive pay scale at Level-10. Qualification

  • Assistant Geologist: Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology with at least 50% marks plus 2 years of field experience.

  • Mining Officer: * Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering.

    • OR Diploma in Mining Engineering with 1 year of supervision experience and 2 years of mineral concession work.

    • OR Master’s degree in Geology/Applied Geology (with Mathematics at Bachelor's level) with minimum 50% marks.

  • Assistant Chemist: Master’s degree in Chemistry with at least 50% marks plus 2 years of experience in rock and mineral analysis.

  • Unreserved / OBC / EWS (Uttarakhand): ₹172.30 (Fee ₹150 + ₹22.30 Processing)

  • SC / ST (Uttarakhand): ₹82.30 (Fee ₹60 + ₹22.30 Processing)

  • Physically Handicapped (Divyang): ₹22.30 (Processing fee only)

  • Orphans of Uttarakhand:No Fee

Important Questions

  1. Can candidates from other states apply? 

Ans: Yes, but they will be considered under the Unreserved (General) category and won't get age or fee relaxations.

  1. Is there any negative marking? 

Ans: The written exam is Subjective (Descriptive), so negative marking for wrong options (as in MCQs) does not apply.

  1. What is the minimum qualifying mark for General category? 

Ans: General candidates must score at least 40% in the written exam and 45% in the final aggregate.

  1. How is the experience calculated?

Ans:  Experience is counted only after you have obtained the required minimum educational qualification.

  1. Can I apply for more than one post? 

Ans: Yes, if you meet the eligibility for multiple posts, you can select them, but you must pay the fee separately for each.

  1. What happens if I make a mistake in the form? 

Ans: UKPSC will open a Correction Window from 01 April to 10 April 2026.

Ans: Yes, these are permanent, Gazetted positions under the Uttarakhand Government.

  1. Where will the exam centers be? 

Ans: Primarily in Haridwar and Haldwani.

  1. Are the interviews mandatory? 

Ans: Yes, final merit is prepared based on both the Written Exam and Interview.

  1. What is the salary for these posts? 

Ans: All three posts fall under Pay Level 10.
